All of our meetings and workshops are via Zoom at this time.
Social time starts at 6:15pm. The evening program begins at 6:30pm.
There is sharing at almost all meetings, as well as a special event or a lecture/trunk show by the evening’s speaker.
Let’s start exploring!

March Lecture & Workshop
Program at 3/15 Meeting: Expanding My Quilting Journey. Back by popular demand, this Romanian-born engineer and designer returns to our guild.
- Zoom meeting
- Social time 6:15pm
- Evening program 6:30pm
Workshop 3/20 (Sat) and 3/28 (Sun): Only One. Make a stunning, modern and artful quilt using a simplified stack-and-whack technique. On the first day, students cut and sew pieces to create blocks. Then on the second day, you finish sewing blocks and compose your quilt. By the end of day two, many students will finish their quilt top. The class features several fast sewing techniques, in addition to the stack-and-whack method, as well as information about value composition and layout.
The best fabric for this pattern need has a large repeat (ideally 22″ to 24″ but a 15″ repeat can also work), a fairly large and varied print (a small print does not work), a good amount of negative space and a limited number of colors. For more info on Dory Cary’s class click here.
- Zoom workshop: 9am to 4pm each day, with a one hour lunch break
- Only One pattern available here in both printed and PDF formats
- Dora recommends taking a look at her 3 1/3 fabric packages with pattern, as she knows these fabrics work well with the pattern
This workshop is now open to Canyon members and non-members.
April Lecture & Workshop
Program at 4/19 Meeting: Quilts that Honor Friends, Family and Freedom. This fun and informative lecture and trunk show covers the history of the Lancaster Diamond Sampler. First we’ll hear about the various techniques used to create the unique designs in the quilt. Next we’ll learn about the role of quilting in response to conflicts in American history, including the quilt groups that banded together to support those who served to defend our country.

Workshop 4/17: Making the Lancaster Diamond Sampler Quilt. In this workshop you learn how to cut, piece and create your own Lancaster Diamond Sampler, which is done using a versatile diamond shape. The quilt is made using fabrics, as well as both recycled orphan blocks and tops. The quilt squares are inspired by the Lancaster Diamond Sampler made in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in the mid-1800’s by a group “called “girl cousins.” This was a group of friends, family, young and old, new and experienced quilters who shared knowledge, fabric and patterns as they worked on quilts. For more info on the Lancaster Diamond Sampler click here.
- Zoom workshop: 9am to 4pm

- Note: The Lancaster Diamond Acrylic Template ($15) is required for the workshop so be sure to purchase it ahead of time.

Workshop 5/15: Infrognito. Frogs come in crazy colors, so jump into your stash! It’s true: frogs come in fantastic colors and patterns so just about anything goes. We’ll create these frogs learning a surprising trick for saving time and effort on smaller pieces and go over two methods for creating the contrasting appliqué fellow. Choose a soft pallette for the backgrounds and a variety of colorful prints for the frog (very stash-friendly.) You’ll be amazed how quickly this quilt jumps to life.
Eyes can be fused or traditionally appliquéd. We’ll cover several techniques to create them from fabric, with textile markers and with pencils.

Using a process of abstraction, Brenda strives to capture the essence of her subjects in simplified form.
